Friday 12th August
We both had the honour of attending the service of remembrance for the 66th anniversary of V. J. Day this morning. The troops who fought in the Far East are often referred to as the forgotten army. I hope this short video will help you to understand their role in WWII.
The service was held by the Skegness and District Branch of the Burma Star Association and conducted by Rev. Ian Banks.
When you go home
Tell them of us, and say
For your tomorrow
We gave our today
I was asked to give a short reading as was the Town Clerk and Mrs Preston.
The service ended with the traditional Act of Remebrance we are all familiar with.
We were both deeply honoured to have been part of this service and share the same deep loss for those members of the Association who are no longer with us.
