Valentine Ball – no thanks just had one

On behalf of myself and Dick Edginton I would like to say a huge thank you to the 80 people who attended our Valentines Ball on Saturday. We ate, laughed and danced away until the small hours.

In doing so we managed to raise just short of £1500 for two local charities;

Lincolnshire And Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance

All this would not of been possible had it not been for the fantastic support we received from the business community of Skegness. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of them.

So thanks go to

Brooks and Kirk – Healthcare and Management Training Consultants. The North Shore Hotel, The Vine Hotel, The Log cabin, The National Balloon Company, East Midlands Engraving, Tates Ltd (The Spar), Drummond Road, Tarantino’s Restaurant, It’s a Pressing Job, The Welcome Inn, Nelsons Jewellers,IGP event Photography and not forgetting Nick and Sid Dennis

Please support them the way they supported us.

The Golden Ticket – another first for Skegness

I thought I would use my blog to publicise a great piece of work which is being done by The Rotary Club of Skegness and staff at the Embassy Centre Skegness.

It is called The Golden Ticket.

After each performance at the Embassy Theatre  the Skegness Rotary Club has a charity collections. This is done discreetly as the audience leaves the theatre. This money is then used to provide theatre experiences for disadvantaged children within the area who would not normally be able to attend.

This simple, yet original idea came from Skegness District Rotarian, Margaret Taylor. It has been put into operation to great effect by Embassy Theatre Front Of House & Promotions Manager Pollyanne Trapmore-Shaw with the whole hearted support and effort of all the Embassy front of house team.

The Golden Ticket scheme is viewed by many as an industry role model.  In fact it is currently being piloted in other theatre and entertainment venues across the country including the Crucible in Sheffield.

If you would like  further information on how to access the scheme or would like to contribute towards it please contact Embassy Theatre Front Of House & Promotions Manager Pollyanne Trapmore-Shaw on 01754 897677 or by email Pollyanne.Trapmore-Shaw@e-lindsey.gov.uk

Well done to Skegness Rotary Club, the Embassy Centre Skegness and all those involved.

Another first for Skegness.

What an amazing town we live in.

Ron and Esther’s 70th wedding anniversary.

Tuesday 9th August

We paid a visit to Rayleigh House care home this afternoon. Not to get booked in you understand, although a rest would be nice, but to visit Ron and Esther.

Ron and Esther are a very special couple because today they celebrate their 70th, that’s right their 70th, wedding anniversary.

The owners and staff at Rayleigh House had prepared a special BBQ in their honour. They had also arranged a fantastic cake and of course a glass of bubbly to toast the happy couple.

Here’s to the pair of you and we hope you have many more happy years together.

Oh and by the way if you would like to know the secret to a long and happy marriage according to Ron the answer is simple

I used to work away a lot!
