Sunday 7th August
This afternoon we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of cyclists to Skegness. The group in question were all raising money for Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Services, better known to you and me as LIVES.

The cyclists had traveled the 44 miles from Lincoln to Skegness in 4 hours. Not bad, 11mph in a strong wind.

Last year LIVES responded to over 15,000 calls with an average wait time for the patient of a little over 4 minutes. Being such a rural community an ambulance can takes at least twice that amount of time. In fact only 72% of Lincolnshire ambulances get to their patient within 8 minutes. This is not a criticism of the ambulance service just a statement of fact. We are now all aware of how crucial the first few minutes are for a patient and this is why the volunteers at Lives are so important.
Needless to say that despite the volunteers giving their time freely this rapid response still costs money to run and needs to be paid for. That is why these cyclists gave up their Sunday morning to raise some much needed funds.
If you would like to help the work of LIVES you can make a donation by following this link.
We all hope we never need them but we are glad they are there, thanks LIVES
