After the formal council meeting Councillors, Honoured Citizens, Chairs of local groups, Mayors of neighbouring towns, family and friends are invited to the Mayors reception.

This year I held mine at the Northshore Hotel. This venue has not been used for the Mayors Reception for as long as I can remember but what can I say? The food, service, venue and attention to detail was second to non. I feel that when you are hosting a reception and inviting dignitaries from outside the immediate area it is important that they leave with the right impression of our town. That they did.

Another reason for holding the reception is to announce, and raise money for, my chosen charity.

My charity for the year is St. Barnabas lincolnshire Hospice.

Each year St. Barnabas spend over £250,000 in Skegness on palliative care services, providing vital services free of charge to terminally ill patients and their families. All the money I raise in Skegness for St. Barnabus will be spent in Skegness helping to make the life of our residents, at a very difficult time,  just that little bit better.

I would like to raise as much money as is humanly possible so if you have any ideas (that are legal) to help me raise money, would like to hold an event for me or donate directly, please please please contact me.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and those present at the reception we have already raised a substantial sum of money and to them all I am deeply grateful.
