Jon and Rita’s 70th wedding anniversary.

Friday  12th August

70th wedding anniversaries seem to be a bit like buses. You wait years for one to come along and then, blow me down, two arrive at once.

Our second 70th wedding anniversary of the week took place at Syne Hills Care Home and was in honour of Jon and Rita Gill. Rita is now a resident of Syne Hills and Jon is staying there while he recovers from a minor operation.

The management and staff had worked hard to make sure this was a very special day for them including serving a beautiful anniversary buffet on the lawn, (not actually on the lawn you understand, the food was on plates, we were on the lawn, but you knew what I meant). All the family had made the trip to see them and wish them well.

Many of you will remember Jon from his period as a headmaster here in Skegness and will be glad to hear that both he and Rita are in good health.

Both Cath and I wish them well and hope that they have many more anniversaries to remember.

Cheers and good health

Ron and Esther’s 70th wedding anniversary.

Tuesday 9th August

We paid a visit to Rayleigh House care home this afternoon. Not to get booked in you understand, although a rest would be nice, but to visit Ron and Esther.

Ron and Esther are a very special couple because today they celebrate their 70th, that’s right their 70th, wedding anniversary.

The owners and staff at Rayleigh House had prepared a special BBQ in their honour. They had also arranged a fantastic cake and of course a glass of bubbly to toast the happy couple.

Here’s to the pair of you and we hope you have many more happy years together.

Oh and by the way if you would like to know the secret to a long and happy marriage according to Ron the answer is simple

I used to work away a lot!
