Friday 1st July
At 4.30pm on a lovely sunny Skegness afternoon I had the pleasure of opening the Skegness Infants School Summer Fair. The fair was well attended by parents, grand parents and older children.

Prior to my officially opening the Fair all the visitors were welcome by the schools very own cheerleaders ” The Cheerios”. A lot of hard practice had gone in to make their little opening show perfect and it was a lovely colourful start to the afternoon.

- The Cheerios, now taking bookings !!!
The Fair had the usual mix of stalls and games all aimed at raising as much money as possible. The barbecue was very busy and the tombola stall was cleaned out in next to no time. By the end of the afternoon, with the support of the children’s families and local businesses, a staggering £1124.17 (don’t forget the 17p) had been raised. All this money will be used to buy equipment, pay for special workshops, in fact all the extras a successful school needs.
I have been an occasional visitor to the Infants School for the past three years. In that time I have noticed how this school is flourishing. This I’m sure is down to the commitment and hard work of the Head, her staff team and the support of the parents. The success of today’s summer fair was just another example of that commitment and hard work, long may it continue.
That just leaves me to say thank you for the invitation to the fair and well done to all those involved.
